SM J Mall unveils Kitsune’s Christmas Grove
Christmas magic takes on a distinctly Japanese-inspired charm at SM J Mall with the unveiling of Kitsune’s Christmas Grove, this year’s Christmas centerpiece that brings the wonder of Japanese folklore to the warmth and joy of the holiday season.
The centerpiece features a magnificent 40-foot Christmas tree adorned with festive ornaments, delicate floral accents, and twinkling lights, crowned by a glowing star. Beside it stands a striking white fox inspired by the kitsune of Japanese folklore, a magical fox spirit known for its shape-shifting abilities and mystical nature.
Reimagined as the guardian of SM J Mall’s Christmas celebration, Kitsune invites guests to embrace their wishes and discover the magic of the season in a festive setting for families and friends to gather and create lasting holiday memories.
During the launch, SM J Mall showcased an exquisite creation by renowned Cebuano couturier Cary Santiago, inspired by the tenko, a powerful, long-lived kitsune believed to dwell in the heavens and often depicted as a woman. The piece brings to life the theme of wishes coming to life, with Kitsune serving as a guardian who inspires everyone to pursue their aspirations.
The holiday festivities continue with a lineup of experiences for guests of all ages. Families can meet Santa during the Santa Meet & Greet every Saturday in December. From November to December, Holiday Live Music brings festive melodies to the mall every Friday and Sunday. Guests can also explore Kitsune’s Holiday Collective for seasonal finds.
Adding an artistic touch to the season, Holiday Rhythm and Blooms: Symphony of Ikenobo Ikebana takes place from November 6 to 8 at The Atrium, celebrating the beauty of Japanese floral arrangement.
In partnership with the Fashion Institute of Design Cebu, SM J Mall will also present Couture in Motion: Holiday Fashion Show on December 19 at The Atrium, bringing fashion and creative expression together in a celebration of wishes and possibilities.
Beyond the festive displays and holiday experiences, SM J Mall invites shoppers to share the joy of giving through Besties of Joy, the annual Christmas charity initiative of SM Supermalls and SM Cares. Running from October 12 to December 25, 2026, the initiative features a Buy 1, Donate 1 offer, allowing shoppers to purchase one plush toy and donate another to a child in need for ₱380. This year’s collection features four lovable animal plushies: Sera, Sasha, Maki, and Matty. Through Besties of Joy, SM J Mall extends the spirit of Christmas to its chosen beneficiary, Everlasting Hope Cebu, giving shoppers an opportunity to share kindness and bring holiday cheer to children through a simple but meaningful act of generosity.
